lady

check the story

earlier this year/yeah this year
saw a dyme on a the block, wipin her tears
she graced the earth for about 20 years/i approached near
lady don't fear/
i came over here to see about you
she looked at me like i wasn't allowed to
something was wrong, the words danced off her tongue/
something like a melodic song"naw boo, e'thing cool now"
she wiped her face, gently smiled and said "i gotta go back to school now
"i just stared, at 1st i couldn't mutter a word
1st time a woman made me nervous, then i stuttered the words..
"w-w-what's ya name"
i sounded so lame
i stared vigorously at her fabulous frame
she noticed and responded with a look of concern
and replied smartly "when will u niggahs ever learn?"
i knew i was burned/in turn i quickly apologized/
"my male instincts prevailed and i didn't realize"
she seemed intrigued by the approach, she giggled and laughed
we talked and seemed like an eternity passed
she gasped and and exclaimed "man, i missed my class"
she wasn't really upset/in fact she was glad that we met
i was rockin the mic that night/so i invited her to the set
-------------------------------------------
it was about 1100pm/i told her 10 so this chic was late
punctuality minus 2 points/from a dime to an eight
but when she walked through the doors she cleaned her slate
what i saw tickled my iris, her appearance was great/
she strutted like a peak performance
all eyes on her/it's like her status was enormous
in the background you can hear the hallelujah chorus
my mans and them pointin and staring
she looked at me/i shot a glance, like i'm not even carin'
and in the midst of the moment something drastic had happened
some lame cat walked up on her and started rapidly mackin/
gotta be an average joe just seekin some action
i was destracted/cause the beat dropped, so i commenced to rappin
she got up and left the club and didn't look back/
my chest got warm like i was havin a cardiac
what do i do, where is she going/i'm not even knowin
she flew out the door/like a gust of wind was blowin..
.i'm feelin like a lil punk, cause i met her that day
drop the game on her head/then she walked away
i didn't say all the things i wanted to say
i know i ain't in love/why am i actin so gay
i can't explain nothin but i'm not feelin the same
i only know her by "lady"/i didn't ask for her name
that dude that came in musta had mad game
cause lady walked off and she was off the chain
i was tellin the bar-tender about the woman i lost
he looked and laughed the words "man that was her boss"
"the lady you talkin about is a workin girl/give her a hundred dollars and she can give you the world
"well-proportioned, nice smile, red-bone tall girl/round here we call her "lady",
yeah she a call-girl"
my mouth dropped at the words he said/i learned my lesson
next woman i meet/i'm inquirin her profession
i was at awe/it was hard to swallow like robatussin
my chest was still heavy like i was havin congestion
word from the wise/i don't care if a girl is sweet or cute
learn the women you deal wit/they could be prostitutes.......lady......

piece of mind

i can't afford to give you a piece of my mind
for i struggle with what little mind i have left.
i struggle with what mind i have......right.
i can't afford to ....give you a piece of my mind - woman...
because i need peace of mind.
i withhold - i hold my peace, wishing you could hold it as well.
i hold my peace because you hold me in hell...
im not nasir jones - but it ain't hard to tell
that you took a piece of me - you modern jezebel.
well......
i tried not to give you a piece .....
all i wanted was peace
but you gave him a piece......

so ....peace....im outta here

clepto

in passion i burn with intention not to mention/dissention got the fire lettin loose in this here relation/i stand here reppin a nation of regeneration ready to ignite the 3rd degree sensation elation - we hot -

i do this on purpose to find a purpose to those that shimmer like candle flames, feeling hopeless and worthless - we scratchin the issues and should be burnin the surface - we should be aimin for doctors but fall shortin service like registered nurses - we hot

and im something like a clepto - my tongue be the bic lighter - i heat people to their destiny everytime that i spit fire - something like super mario - everytime that i spit fire - me, im just a clepto maniac - venting through verbage a prolix-minded maniac, geographically poor richard the almanac - we hot

i did it your honor - i burned everything - premeditated from the pharmacuetical companies keeping our seeds medicated - sedated - tryin to be my brothers keeper and *he* said we not related - he hot.

black like me

i say im hip-hop -the culture excluding the raps
the process is the hair excluding the naps
black like me - not black like you
watch me be black - see what i do
the neo-soul - the soul - psuedo-soul
vault the pole-vault - our daughters slidin them poles
black like me fathers absent - our mothers playin their roles
black like us continue the flame like prideful coals - burn
learn - then unlearn, just to learn
i discern that we yearn for the degress we earn - the world turns
in the galaxy thats black like us - black holes the universe
black ho's we spit in our verse - who came 1st?
my black or your black - our black - sometimes we mild
they think our black belong in the wild - *ha*
black like me - they be black like me - the whites to the japanese
be black like me - they embrace our race - but not our face
buy CD's we spit rhymes while they spit in our face...
bet they don't wannah struggle black like me - sambo, blackface - soft-shoe like me.

liquid pain

this facial rain
liquified pain, remains
to water the situations of hurt and disdain
forecast calls for showers
when it rains it pours
when i cry im yours - the crying abases my mind
so i rewind the times to surface love
so it no longer dwells sublime
liquified pain -
the manifestation of hurt
facial rain -
the water of ones worth..

the boombox weight rested on the shoulders of kids.
the two speakers, the tape deck - volume levels...different music, different devils.
the streets we walked, "headed for self-destruction", we were the publics enemy; number one, blasting our sounds for the masses – we saw the world through smoke tented double down glasses......

audiovolution

the walkman - small boomboxes....we are urged to be more personal with our message, the foam from the headphones rests on the ears of our people with comfort, we did this in the summertime, epmd had me wigged when I entered the 36 chambers – we’re slowly moving away from the message to the ppl – now the message is self-centered. – me, me, mine, gotta get mine, my own – its MY music….in my headphones…my gold chain, my …….music…the tapes, the ribbon……we listened to them tapes so much….we rubbed the white letters off of them joints….we new that the 3rd song on the side A – meant that its was the 8th song on side B……but that B side was the best side…..’member that?
Audiovolution
We no longer flipped cassettes in decks….what’s next - - - a compact disc?...a discman?...a disc man?
..some hung in the rearview mirror of cars that had CD players…..the message was clearer – but the message was garbage at the same time….stat quo – gangsta…the era of murder music – my 1st was regulate by warren g and nate dogg……don’t scratch the surface you might mess up the songs….but I noticed that the songs themselves never really scratched the surface..so that messed up the CD ANYWAY!!....

AUDIOVOLUTION

What does MP3 stand for anyway?.....who cares….this is why I rock the MP3 player…from the boombox on shoulders to the shuffle clipped to my shirt pocket….no more 90 minute cassettes….now we speak GIGS…hundreds of songs…myPOD plays videos, sekou’s POD records voice….digital media, the weight no longer rests on our shoulders – to blast to the masses the message of our music….
Lets get on the treadmills and elyptical machines with the BOOMBOX on our shoulders…..

i had to let it out truth....
